In the synthetic fiber manufacturing method, the most basic process is a spinning and drawing process. In this laboratory, we produce various composite fibers such as core-sheath type composite fibers and sea-island fibers using a spinning machine for composite fibers, and investigate the fiber structure formation process of the composite fibers on the spinning line and during the drawing process. Furthermore, since 2014, we have been challenging research applied to the analysis of nonwoven fabric structures using micro X-ray CT. By this method, the internal structure of the needle punch and meltblown nonwoven fabric was visualized nondestructively, and the relationship between the fiber volume fraction and fiber orientation in the cross section and the physical properties was quantitatively evaluated.
