UNITIKA has developed spunbond nonwoven fabric “Dilla” composed of extremely thick PET fiber of non-circular cross-section, and is developing its application. The fiber diameter is as thick as 16 dtex, and “Dilla” is a world-first commercial spunbond nonwoven fabric composed of this thick PET fiber. This nonwoven fabric is elastic with high rigidity, allows air to pass through easily and is good in trapping efficiency, so that UNITIKA expects to apply mainly for a supporting material for filters, and further investigates the application for civil engineering, buildings and carpets.
