 TORAY has developed a technology to produce an arbitrary shape of cross-section controlled in nano-level. TORAY developed a nozzle to produce an arbitrary shape of cross-section (for example, + shape) by controlling dot-like extrusion of resin in nano-level like an ink-jet printer and assembling it in one line after extrusion. Multiple resins can be used in multiple times, so that softness or bulkiness could be added even to nanofiber. With this technology, blended nanofiber can also be produced by separation. TORAY aims to apply the technology to develop the application in the medical field and the materials for filter or sports apparels.
