High functional fibres expected to be used in new fields (KURARAY) September, 2019

【Supercategory:6. Products Subcategory:6.7 New products of 2019

Kuraray will set out to develop their high functional fibres to be used as composite materials for aircrafts. Their high strength polyarylate fibre Vectran has been studied if it can be applied to the advanced vertical stabilizer that is currently under development by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. in order to make the stabilizer’s functional life expectancy longer. If applied, Vectran becomes a super fibre applied to a primary construction material, as well as a carbon fibre. Also, Kuraray will seek a new application for their hook-and-loop fastener and polyetherimide fibre, both of which have been applied to interior components. They are expected to be put into the market of structural components to be applied to the next-generation aircraft.
