The Role of Proteasome System of Skeletal Muscle in Endurance Exercise
【Supercategory:7. DESCENTE SPORTS SCIENCE Subcategory:7.40 Vol.40】
ABSTRACT
Ubiquitin-proteasome system is known as a major proteolysis in skeletal muscle.Previous studies suggested that proteasome is important to homeostasis of skeletalmuscle. However, the role of proteasome during exercise has not been elucidated yet. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to elucidate the role of proteasome in skeletal muscleduring endurance exercise, and hypothesized that skeletal muscle specific proteasomegene knock out mice have lower ability of endurance exercise than control mice. As a result of endurance exercise test, skeletal muscle-specific proteasome geneknock out mice showed significant decrease in running time compared with controlmice. These findings suggested that proteasome in skeletal muscle might contributeto endurance exercise. The role of proteasome during endurance exercise needs to befurther examined.
