Toyobo has achieved development of a smart textile for pregnant women, through a joint development with Union Tool and Tohoku Medical Megabank Organization (ToMMo) of Tohoku University. The textile is for use in postnatal depression research. It is designed to be able to read heartbeat, so that it is anticipated to contribute to early recognition, pathogeny and prognosis. For the project, Toyobo provided their own film-shaped conductive material COCOMI, which is applied to electrodes and cables for wearable devices.
