Ultra-short polyester staple fiber developed (TEIJIN) June, 2017

【Supercategory:6. Products Subcategory:6.5 New products of 2017

Teijin has developed an ultra-short polyester staple fiber whose length is 20μm on average. Making a fiber length shorter means that its aspect ratio becomes smaller, and such a fiber can be dispersible in thick water. The fiber has an enough length unlike a spherical filler, so that it can provide intensity to an object to which it is applied. Teijin plans to market the fiber to be used for such as coating materials, cosmetics and thickeners, and aims to sell 15t by 2020.
