Asahi Kasei plans to build their cellulose nanofiber nonwoven business, and sets its sales goal at 10 billion yen per year to make the business such a large scale. The CNF nonwoven sheet has an advantage in that it can be formed into both single and multiple layers. Their first goal is to commercialise the nonwoven in a few years and to apply it to cell culture substratum, electronic materials and heat exchange membranes, for example. After commercialised, it would be produced on high-volume lines, and also developed for other application expected to be used widely, such as automotive parts and battery separator materials. They are currently preparing for starting the business, and trying to grasp its potential needs.
