Shinshu University School of Medicine held the 3rd International Seminar with Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU), our partner university from 2017, on February 18, 2021.
Prof. Hsiang-Chun Lee, a cardiologist, also the Chief of Global Affairs, College of Medicine in KMU, with Prof. Naoki Tanaka served as the moderators of this memorable first meeting. Graduate and medical students from both universities gave an excellent talk about their ongoing research. Prof. Katsuhiko Tabuchi (Department of Molecular and Cellular Physiology), Prof. Takayuki Shindo (Department of Cardiovascular Research), and Prof. Keiichi Higuchi (Department of Aging Biology) participated as the commentators and engaged in lively discussions with faculty and students from both universities. Approximately 30 medical students participated in this seminar and listened attentively to the presentations.
After the research presentations, Dr. Chun-Yu Lin, a specialist of infectious disease in KMU Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital, talked about "Management of COVID-19 in Taiwan". Participants asked questions actively to the speaker and it was quality time.
Both universities ended the first seminar successfully, promising to continue their collaboration in the future. Shinshu University School of Medicine intends to implement this approach with KMU and other partner universities and offer our students and doctors the opportunity to learn global trends of clinical medicine and biomedical research.
