Opening Ceremony to Launch Wakate Project

Opening ceremony for the Fiber-Nano Tech Young Researcher Empowerment Center was held at the Ueda campus on July 3、 2007 under the attendance of Mr. Akira Yoshikawa、 Deputy Director-General Science and Technology Policy Bureau of the Ministry of Science and Education、 Mr. Motai Soichi、 Mayer of Ueda City、 Mr. Humigo Goto、 Senior Staff of Japan Science and Technology Agency and many other guests.
Opening speeches were delivered by Mr. Yoshikawa and Mr. Motai、 both expressing a high hope for the center. The speeches were followed by comprehensive presentations of the plan and the strategy for the project. The ceremony ended with unveiling of the commemorative plaque dedicated to the establishment of the center.

The Center is supported by 2007 Special Coordination Funds for Promoting Science and Technology of the Ministry of Science and Education to carry out the Research Environment Improvement Program for Young Researchers. President Atsushi Komiyama of Shinshu University is the Executive Leader of the project and will oversee the university wide implementation of the project.
