Practice with a braiding machine

Activity report

As part of the Practical Study in Fiber Fundamentals course for first-year students, we held a practice session with a braiding machine on June 29. The braiding machine used in the session can form superfiber and carbon fiber into a cylindrical shape, allowing it to create high-strength braids as well as the fiber portion of tube-shaped fiber-reinforced composite materials. During the session, students learned how to operate the braiding machine, how yarn is supplied from the machine, how the machine works, and how different operating conditions produce different types of braid.
