Student's report by Mr. Tomoki Nagaishi (1st-year student)

1.Purpose of participation
To learn how to apply our knowledge into actual business, from seeing the manufacturing front line and gaining knowledge of making high quality products. Also to learn the way of solving problems by discussing and identifying problems.

2.Issues identified as a result of participation
I didn't have much interest in ordinary textiles before, but I must pay better attention to them to develop and deepen my understanding. The knowledge of those techniques and inventive ideas from this tour will help my future research and studies.

3.Result of participation
It was a valuable opportunity to have an actual experience of how those textiles are used and made with various techniques in real business, considering what we studied at the university. In recent days, the Japanese textile producing area is getting smaller. However, the products from the Bishu area are high quality and applied with their local character which is unique and lively. We also learned from their laborsaving and efficient workstyle for not just quality, but also for quantity.

4.How will you apply what you learned to your research?
Until this tour, I thought textiles were not related to my research very much. However I learned to imagine the real usage of the textiles and it expanded our field of vision. So now I will take this experience to make our research further improve for the huge variety and high quality textile industry.
