Open Seminar and Lectures by Prof. Koehl

Activity report

We had an open seminar by Professor Ludovic Koehl from ENSAIT in France on April 22nd, 2015. The topic was "Curriculum Studies and Research Themes in ENSAIT, France" and he told us about the curriculum and the latest research at ENSAIT. About 40 students, faculty, and staffs attended his seminar. Since we have a new student who has joined us this April after completing the double degree program between ENSAIT and FTST and another student who's been studying at ENSAIT under this program, it was very interesting to us. Some students seemed to surprised to learn how heavy the workload is for students at ENSAIT compared to themselves. The Q and A session was active and engaging, Prof. Koehl told us how precious and valuable it can be to live/study overseas, despite the difficulties you have to overcome. It must have been encouraging and assuring especially for our international students who study in Japan miles away from their home.
He also gave 5 lectures to our program students as "International Topics on Fiber Engineering I & II," with the topic "Study of changes in consumer behavior regarding textile products." It was the first course delivered by a guest professor from abroad for the first-year students, they were somewhat nervous and couldn't tell what to expect, however, Prof. Koehl's warm and laid-back personality relaxed them and they even succeeded to share some good laughs with him in and out of the class.
