Mission
- Shinshu University places great value on the history, culture and abundant
natural resources of Shinshu and on the activities of all those who live
in Shinshu.

of the community as the University works to help conserve the natural environment,
promote public welfare and stimulate the development of local industries.

Aims
Shinshu University declares its aims to be fourfold:

Underlying all these aims is the basic conception of the University’s role
as set out above.
Education
- The University’s principal educational aim is to foster the unique intellectual
talents of each student.
- The University strives to produce young people who value the precious resources
of the natural world, welcome the diversity of human culture, and are skilled
communicators.
- The University’s objective is that all its graduates should have gained
the self-reliance, determination and eagerness to take on new challenges
that will enable them to discover for themselves what their task in society
should be. They will be equipped to identify those problems which are most
urgent and, in seeking solutions, to make the most of the advanced technical
knowledge which they have acquired.
Research
The University’s aims in research are:
- To open up new intellectual frontiers while nurturing a scientific community that respects and works in harmony with the natural world.
- To contribute to the further development of human society.

International Exchange
