Discussion Session

The esteemed Professor Jae Yong Han, Professor Heebal Kim, and Associate Professor Jeong-Yong Suh visited the Department of Interdisciplinary Genome Sciences and Cell Metabolism of the Institute for Biomedical Sciences (IBS) on August 8th, 2016, as Distinguished Visiting Professors and Specially Appointed Professors from Seoul National University. Over a period of two weeks, they engaged in numerous meetings on collaborative research along with a special discussion session on the first day.

Although the discussion session was aimed towards junior researchers in the Department of Interdisciplinary Genome Sciences and Cell Metabolism, virtually all department researchers attended this event. Associate Professor Shinichi Yonekura, Head of the Department of Interdisciplinary Genome Sciences and Cell Metabolism, presided over the meeting, and Dr. Tomoyuki Fujita, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, gave the opening remarks. Dr. Yonekura introduced Shinshu University, the Interdisciplinary Cluster for Cutting Edge Research (ICCER), the IBS, and the system for inviting distinguished visiting professors. Afterwards, Assistant Professors Tomohide Takaya and Koji Umezawa of the Department of Interdisciplinary Genome Sciences and Cell Metabolism gave presentations. The session was concluded with a question and answer period, wherein all attendees enjoyed vigorous discussion.
