In their plan to collaborate on future research, Dr. Gabriele Stocco of the Pharmacogenomics Laboratory, Department of Life Sciences, University of Trieste, Italy, and Professor Katsunori Sasaki of Shinshu University’s Department of Histology and Embryology and Institute for Biomedical Sciences have begun exchanging researchers and students for this international endeavor.

Following Dr. Marco Pelin of last year, PhD student Ms. Elena Genova of the University of Trieste visited Shinshu University for scientific training. Ms. Genova stayed for about a month from August 28th to learn techniques on the handling of induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells and the differentiation of pancreatic exocrine cells from iPS cells by Professor Sasaki and Assistant Professor Fengming Yue of the Department of Histology and Embryology for continued use in the collaboration project.
