The 6th Institute for Biomedical Sciences (IBS) International Symposium will be held on January 18, 2017 at Shinshu University in Nagano, Japan. The upcoming event will commemorate the Academic Cooperation and Exchange Agreement between the Interdisciplinary Cluster for Cutting Edge Research (ICCER), Shinshu University, and the Bio-X Institutes of Shanghai Jiao Tong University that was signed in 2016. The Agreement will begin with collaborative research between Professor Weidong Li of Bio-X Institutes and Professor Tatsuo Suzuki from the Department of Biological Sciences for Intractable Neurological Diseases of ICCER’s IBS to elucidate the relationship between synaptic abnormality and neurological disease using genetically modified animal models. Moreover, they have agreed on cooperation from the larger viewpoints of educational research and boosting exchange for further development of the project.
Researchers in neuroscience and medical biology from several universities and institutions in Shanghai will visit Japan in January for the Symposium. On this occasion, four speakers from China and two from Shinshu University are scheduled to give talks on their respective fields. The IBS is planning to hold several more international symposiums in the future with the aims of setting broad research themes and introducing new projects to spark collaborative innovation.
