Exchanges between the three universities have already been taking place for many years, centering mainly on Professor Patrice Simon of Université Toulouse III - Paul Sabatier, Professor Katsuhiko Naoi of Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, and Professor Wataru Sugimoto of this university. They have built up lasting relationships of trust through a diverse series of initiatives aimed at fostering exchanges. These include holding collaborative research, staging international conferences and hosting graduate students. In the 2014 academic year, Professor Patrice Simon was invited to Shinshu University as a distinguished visiting professor.
