2The Center for Energy and Environmental Science (X-Breed Center) anticipates and invests its resources for a sustainable future by bringing together energetic researchers from a vast eld of science and technology to materialize unprecedented ideas (cross-breeding of ideas). We will encourage interdisciplinary cooperation among researchers of Shinshu University from all departments as well as co-operating bodies worldwide, ranging from fundamental science to the practical engineering related to but not limited to environmental and energy technology. The X-Breed center will concen-trate on promoting new solutions with innovative dimensions in order to meet the strong demands for such elds, including diverse and robust cutting-edge materials, novel characterization methods, as well as the exploration and understanding of new phenomena.
