SogawaLab100 year excess probabilistic rainfall of daily rainfall maximum, increasing tendency(Niigata).10 year non-excess probabilistic rainfall of annual rainfall, decreasing tendency (Niigata).Sogawalaboratorystudiesthenon-stationaryrainfallfrequencyanalysisforfloodcontrolandwaterutilizationplan.Thefloodcontrolplanistopreventandcontrolfloods.Thewaterutilizationplanistopreventandcontroldroughts.Theprobabilityforrainfallhasbeencomputedbystationaryfrequencyanalysis.However,itwasrecentlyprovedthattherainfalltimeseriesisnon-stationary.Therefore,thenon-stationaryrainfallfrequencyanalysisisrequired.Sogawalaboratoryhasbeenworkingonthisproblemformanyyears.Wewillinvestigatethenon-stationaryrainfallfrequencyanalysisbyusingGCMdataforfloodanddrought.Thenon-stationaryrainfallfrequencyanalysisprovidestheindicestopreventfuturefloodsanddroughts.Theindexfloodindicatesanincreaseinfloodsandtheindexdroughtindicatesadecreaseindroughts.Wearethefirstteamintheworldtousetheseindicesforfloodcontrolandwaterutilization.Wecompletedthestudiesandarewaitingtohearfromadministrationfordirections.ThegraduatesofSogawalaboratoryarepublicofficialsandconsultingtechnicians,andtheyareveryactive.NoriakiSogawaAssociateprofessorResearch associate in faculty of eng.Shinshuuniv., present office from 1991.
