We have developed the structure of the research institute and are vigorously undertaking our work with the aim of being among the world’s top level of research institutes for basic and applied carbon science. Our aim is to cultivate new technologies and materials to form the core competence of local industry as well as Japanese industry, to provide the world’s top level of education in this eld, and to contribute to the advancement of education and research in the university. In our research institute we carry out fundamental and applied research such as the synthesis of nanocarbon and fundamental evaluation, to achieve improvements in the properties and performance of composite materials, contributing to a wide range of elds such as environment, energy, resources, biomedical, ICT, etc., which are the fundamental technologies of the 21st century. We are steadily accumulating results producing the expected 21st century carbon innovation.シリコン（Si）に続く21世紀材料として「カーボン」を定義し、カーボンの基礎科学と応用に関する世界トップレベルの研究機関を目指し、研究所の体制を整え、活発に業務を展開していきます。地域の産業界はもとよりわが国産業のコアコンピュタンスとなりうる新技術や素材開拓を進め、また当該分野の世界トップレベルの教育を実施して、本学の教育研究の高度化に貢献して行くことを目的とします。本研究所におけるナノ・カーボンの合成や基礎的評価、複合材の特性向上及び高機能化の実現など基礎科学ならびに応用研究は、21世紀の基盤技術である、環境・エネルギー、資源、バイオ・医療、ICTなどの広範な分野に寄与するものであり、期待される21世紀炭素イノベーションの創出に向けて、着実に成果を蓄積していきます。• ナノカーボンに関する世界トップの研究拠点を形成する• 産業界や学外研究機関との連携、共同研究により優れた イノベーションを創出する• 最先端カーボンの研究・教育を展開し、成果を世界に 情報発信する• 積極的に外部資金を獲得し、プロジェクトと研究を推進する• To form a world top level research center for nanocarbon.•To produce outstanding innovation by collaboration and joint research with industry and research institutes outside the university.• To carry out advanced carbon research and education, and to disseminate the results to the world.• To actively acquire external funds to promote projects and research.研究所概要　Overview研究所の目標　Vision
