総務部総務課広報室University Emblem: The Komakusa owerUniversity SymbolShinshu University adopted Komakusa as a motif of its lapel badge in 1950. Since then, the motif has been familiar to many people. In March 2010, the university designed the motif as the university emblem.The symbol features the letter “S” for Shinshu together and a noble bird that ies heroically in the skies over Shinshu. The three feathers comprising the wing represent the three tenets of the university: Education, Research, and Social Action conveying a dynamic image of a bird ying through the world (international society). At the same time, the symbol represents Nature, Society, and the Individual combining to move forward into the future.
