With a view to achieving further development in cancer thera-py, the conventional “Comprehensive Cancer Center” has been dissolved into “Shinshu Cancer Center” since April 2013. “Shinshu Cancer Center” consists of Divisions of comprehen-sive cancer therapy, supportive care and cancer registration.Prefectural Cancer Treatment Center HospitalTreatment Information Sharing via the Shinshu Medical Net using ICTSharing regional treatment information (with patient approval) with multiple medical institutions using ICT*, we work with relevant medical institutions on testing,diagnosis, treatment plans, overview of treatment plan to understand all of the above accurately, and to incorporate this information in treatment provided at the University Hospital. The goal is safe and sophisticated medical treatment, and better quality treatment for the community as a whole.Shinshu Cancer Center Outpatient Treatment Rooms* Information & Communications TechnologyTOPICSAhead of the rest of the country, the Center was desig-nated an Advanced Emergency & Critical Care Center in 2007. The center offers tertiary medical care for pa-tients suffering from specic disorders or multiple trau-mas such as serious burn injuries and acute poisoning. Since Shinshu University Hospital serves as a Doctor-Heli base hospital, it carries the responsibility as the nal emergency rescue point in the prefecture. The facil-ity’s performance record sets the highest standard for the entire country.The Doctor Heli Program, launched in October 2011, is also successful, having been utilized 2,200-plus times as of March 2016.On September 1, 2015, an incubator for neonatal transplantation was equipped and the interhospital transportation with the helicopter of neonates was enabled.We expect that transportation with the helicopter improves a lifesaving rate and reduce sequelae of neonates.Emergency & Critical Care Center of the Nation’s Highest StandardsEnhancing hospital functionsWe are currently building the Comprehensive Advanced Medical Center, which will feature robotic surgery, hybrid surgery and other advanced surgical methods and ap-proaches while also bolstering existing frameworks by providing centralized management of patients with seri-ous illnesses/injuries and offering other such advantages.
