TaishiLabThe growth of functional single crystals leads to the future, innovative society!After GraduationIn the FutureElectrical& Computer EngineeringMaininterestofourlaboratoryisthegrowthandevaluationofsemiconductingandfunctionaloxidesinglecrystalssuchassilicon(Si)andsapphire.Singlecrystalsareelectrically,optically,andmechanicallyhomogeneousmaterials.Forexample,SisinglecrystalsarewidelyusedforLSIdevicesorsolarcells.WeareoneoftheleadinggroupsinthefieldofbulkcrystalgrowthinJapan.Currently,weareconductingvariouscooperativeresearchesrelatedto“greenmaterials”withResearchProfessorKeigoHoshikawa..Several typical single crystals, such as silicon and sapphire, grown in our laboratory or cooperative companies.Wearecurrentlyworkingonthegrowthofvarioussinglecrystalscalled“greenmaterials”thatcontributetoenvironmentalpreservation.Sapphire,oneofthekeymaterialsforourlaboratoryisusedasasubstrateforGaN-basedLEDdevices.Thuswestudythegrowthoflarge-scaleandhighqualitysapphirecrystalsbyverticalBridgmantechnique,whichisoneofthetypicalmeltgrowthmethods.Left: An operator is observing the inside of the Czochralskigrowth furnace.
