DEPARTMENTOFTEXTILEANDKANSEIENGINEERINGDepartment of Textile and Kansei Engineering (Kansei Engineering Course)MASTER’S PROGRAM OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY 14 DEPARTMENTS026FacultyTry and be a Kansei producta to create inspirational products! You learn Kansei Engineering approaches in the fields of information, physiology, psychology and design regarding overall development of a product and service. And then, you acquire Kansei Engineering theory and skill in respective fields. We conduct research to globalize our fashion and textile from the standpoints of both textile science and fashion industry. Our researches include the investigation of designer's creation process and design/fabrication process of clothes and the interaction between textile and apparel.Seek to globalize fashion and textiles from JapanOur research is conducted while visualizing invisible Kansei and utilizing Kansei as a communication tool between people and things. Specifically, we focus on user-friendliness of automobiles, attractiveness of smile, comfort of mattresses and seats.Let's learn Kansei measurement and comfort evaluationWe aim to quantify socks comfort, which affects fatigue degree. The data obtained through measurement of pressure changes at the time of wearing socks are important resources for manufacturers to decide materials, shapes and elasticity.Utilize quantified comfort of footwear! We aim to evaluate how people feel about heat, cold and air quality focusing on heat/mass transfer in human-wearing-environment, and utilize the result for product design. We work on the development of apparatus for measuring thermal environment for people and of cooling clothes that cools bodies according to individual preferences.Feeling evaluation in human-wearing environment systemMasayuki Takatera, ProfessorTextile Engineering, Clothes Engineering and Kansei EngineeringEvaluation of physical property and Kansei of textiles and customized and high-value added design of clothesMasayoshi Kamijo, ProfessorKansei Engineering and Sensing EngineeringDevelopment of techniques for measuring and conveying human comfortShigeru Inui, ProfessorComputer Science and Engineering and Kansei EngineeringResearch on supporting technology for product design and development by means of application of IT technology to fashion and textile fieldsSatoshi Hosoya, ProfessorKansei Engineering, Bio-physiological Measurement, and Sports EngineeringResearch on product evaluation, design and development of living ware and sports gearToshihisa Tanaka, Associate ProfessorFabric Science, Physical Property of Biodegradable PolymerDevelopment of human-friendly and environment-friendly materials using polymer that is degradable in the natural environment and living organismsYoshiyuki Matsumura, Associate ProfessorIntelligent Informatics and Science of System and FunctionResearch on creation of intelligent systems applicable to complex systems in the field of international textile and fashion industriesHiroaki Yoshida, Associate ProfessorKansei Engineering and BiomechanicsKansei measurement and comfort evaluation regarding fundamental motions of human such as walking, sitting and sleepingMichael Honywood, Associate ProfessorDevelopment of Kansei Education SystemsDevelopment of novel kansei education systems by use of English and kansei engineering replacing conventional education systemsMasato Takahashi, Associate ProfessorPolymer Material ScienceApplication of amphiphilic polymers in the medical field and structure formation of biopolymers, natural polymers, and polymer alloysTomonori Sakoi, LecturerEnvironmental ErgonomicsResearch on evaluation of how people feel about heat, cold and air quality in human-wearing-environment, and utilization of the result for product designYosuke Horiba, Assistant ProfessorComputational Simulation and Kansei EvaluationResearch on computational simulation of fiber products for customized designKim Kyoungok, Assistant ProfessorClothing Engineering, Textile Engineering, and Kansei EngineeringResearch on analyses of clothing design technologies, conditions affecting clothing appearance and comfort, and mechanisms for making 3-D clothesKazamiSuzukiStarted in 2013 / Dr. Hosoya's LabI conduct my research by a keyword of compatibility in the graduate school based on the knowledge I acquired in undergraduates. I have fostered planning/practical ability through experiment and ability to think through discussions with my lab colleagues and teachers and working for Master's thesis. I feel my growth in the graduate school. Why not join the Kansei Engineering Course and conduct research if you are interested in manufacturing processes and thinking, and wish to grow up through research activities?RecentCareerPathsIsao Wada, ProfessorProduct Planning and Product DesignFinding of universality in trends in eras to develop images of products that support people's bodies and mindsToyota Motor, Honda Motor, Fuji Heavy Industries, Yamaha Motor, Bridgestone, Koito Manufacturing, Toyota Boshoku, Toyota Gosei, Tokairika, Okamura, ZEBRA, Nichiban, Nikke, Descente, Fukusuke, Atsugi, Okamoto Industries, Kewpie, Yazaki Corporation, Mimaki Engineering, Panasonic, Toppan Printing, Dai Nippon Printing, NEC Solution Innovators, CSE, Densan, MKSeiko, Boken Quality Evaluation Institute, Japan Foundation of Textile Testing, Kofu City Office
