FACULTY RESEARCH ACTIVITY 2014
2/64

Today, fiber/textile science and technology are concerned with not only the apparel industry, but also a range of fields including aircraft, automobiles, construction, electronics, and machinery. For example, composites containing carbon fiber are used in the manufacture of aircraft fuselages. In this way, both clothing fibers and industrial fibers are important in today’s fiber and textile industries, and fiber/textile science and technology are connected with various academic fields. To enhance education and research with far-ranging, multifaceted points of view, Shinshu University’s Faculty of Textile Science and Technology (FTST) is organized into four academic divisions: the Division of Textile and Kansei Engineering, the Division of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics, the Division of Chemistry and Materials, and the Division of Applied Biology. This pamphlet introduces research being pursued by faculty members in the FTST. If what you see here interests you, I would encourage you to get in touch; we welcome your comments, questions, and collaboration.
