【Supercategory:7. DESCENTE SPORTS SCIENCE Subcategory:7.2 Vol.2】
Serum HDL-cholesterol level was measured for 45 sedentary and 31 active middle aged men. Active group was consisted of 27 joggers (JG), who had been running over 25 km per week, and 4 swimmers (SG), who had been swimming for 1 hour 4~5 days per week, respectively. HDL-cholesterol levels in SG aged 30-39 and 50~59 were significantly higher for each control (sedentary) group, respectively. These for JG 40~49 age group was not significantly high. However when HDL-cholesterol level was divided into three levels such as over 50 mg/dl, 44~49 ml/dl, under 44 mg/dl, only 8% of JG aged 40~49 belonged to the lowest range (under 44 mg/dl), on the contrary, 33% of sedentary group of the same age group belonged to this range group. From these results, the HDL-cholesterol level of active middle-aged men was relatively higher compared with sedentary middle-aged men.
