【Supercategory:7. DESCENTE SPORTS SCIENCE Subcategory:7.4 Vol.4】
The purpose of this study was to obtain data of the water proofing performance of tent for camping on mountains.
Questionnaires were sent by mail to 1033 user societies, and received responses from 237 societies (22%).
The water proofing property of tent fabrics was experimented in accordance with the results of questionnaires.
The results are as follows;
(1) Boy and girl scout societies possess mainly the house shape tent made of cotton and alpinist societies possess mainly the dome shape tent made of nylon.
(2) The most responses concerning leaking of rain are seam points of tent roof. More responses are a contact part of tent with flysheet or human body, edge or fold parts of tent and the whole tent.
(3) The water proofing property of tent fabrics is wasted to a slight degree under only 6 cycles of the testing combination of abrasion, irradiation with a carbon arc lamp and showering with water.
