Training Course for School Teachers - celebrating freedom of thought
This course aims to foster teachers who are able to quickly and flexibly respond to the various issues of a changing society, and issues related to the development of growing children and students. It is designed mainly to train teachers for the compulsory education years with a focus on continuity of education from elementary to secondary school, and it aims to foster teachers with high-level expertise and practical teaching skills, an ability to solve issues in a comprehensive manner, and an ability to understand the entire education process from kindergarten through senior high school. The Training Course for Teachers offers seven majors: Language and Literature Education, Social Science Education, Natural Science and Mathematics Education, Life Science Education, Art Education, Health and Physical Education, and Pedagogical Science.
- Pedagogical Science
Pedagogical Science takes the existing framework of subjects and fixed perceptions, and searches for new and freer teaching styles and education systems.
- Language and Literature
- Language and Literature aims to foster Japanese and English teachers with a passion for language to work in elementary and junior high schools, to help them acquire extensive knowledge of language in general, and to foster intelligent and deep insight into language itself.
- Social Science
- Social Science offers a wide range of topics to learn, from Social Science itself, to Japanese History, Foreign History, Natural Geography, Politics and Economics, Modern Society, and Ethics.
- Natural Science and Mathematics
- Natural Science and Mathematics mainly aims to foster elementary and junior high school teachers with specialized academic abilities in subjects like Science Education, Mathematics Education and Environmental Education.
- Art
Art offers comprehensive and interrelated training and research in areas such as Art, Art Education, Music Education and Fine Arts Education.
- Health and Physical Education
- Health and Physical Education aims to foster high caliber teachers who can offer interesting and fun lessons on health and physical education in elementary and junior high schools.
- Life Science
Life Science aims to teach fundamental views and ideas on issues such as internationalization, informatization, high-tech and an aging society in the 21st Century, in order to enable understanding of the essence of science and technology as it is used in our preferred human living environments and conditions.
