Recruitment for an Assistant Professor Position (Food Chemistry)


1. Outline

 We invite a talented researcher for an Assistant Professor Position in the field of Food Chemistry at the Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Agriculture, and Department of Biomedical Engineering , Graduate School of Science and Technology , Shinshu University.

2. Position: One Assistant Professor Position (fixed-term) 

3. Work place: Faculty of Agriculture, Shinshu University

    8304 Minamiminowa-Village, Kamiina-County, Nagano

4. Research field: Food Chemistry

A successful appointee will have research experience in the field of Food Chemistry based on Organic Chemistry; Analytical Chemistry for Food Function, Organic Chemistry for Life Science, and Biofunctional Chemistry.

5. Qualifications: Applicants should

(1) have an excellent research record in the field described above.

(2) be dedicated to get competitive research grants and to work in social and international activities.

(3) Experiences in postdoctoral research and in research grant applications are highly desirable.

(4) be 37 years of age or younger when the last day of this academic year (March 31, 2017). The age requirement is set for this job opening because this position will be subsidized by "Supporting Expansion of Recruitment Opportunities for Talented Young Researcher" project under Subsidy for Enhancement and Promotion of National University Reform by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

6. Start of Employment: 

Earlier time after March 1, 2017.

7. Tenure: 

The position is non-tenured (until March 31, 2018). However, the hired individual may be asked to continue working as a tenured faculty member in the Department of Agriculture, Faculty of Agriculture, Shinshu University.

8. Treatment: 

 Annual Salary System (5,160,000JPY/Year, 430,000JPY/Month, including various allowances). When the hired individual continues working as a tenured faculty member, Annual Salary System is in accordance with university policy.

Discretionary Labor System.

Social insurances, etc.: The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Mutual Aid Association, Employment insurance.

The others are in accordance with university policy.

10. Deadline: 

Application must be received by close of business on Tuesday, January 10, 2017.

11. Selection Procedure: 

The selection will be made based on the application materials and personal interview. The expenses for travelling and staying will be paid by interviewee him/her self.
