Things to consider about advertising the results of collaborative or entrusted research and submitting the [Notice of Intent to Advertise] form
Publicizing the results of collaborative research or entrusted research to the widest possible audience is encouraged and, by informing society about our research endeavors, it is a means of giving back to society. In doing so, however, care must be given in order to avoid the following:
- Excessive advertising or one that is misleading to consumers.
- Unlawful advertising or one that is contrary to policy or principles.
- Advertising that may undermine the novelty requirement for obtaining patents.
In order to safeguard against such problems and to maintain integrity and trust in the University, and to avoid damage to potential patentability, we ask that your company submit advertising copy to us for prior review and approval.
*If deemed necessary, we may request that you make revisions.
