Medical Sciences

While maintaining a constant focus on human welfare and medical development and pursuing the depths of truth in medical study, we aim to produce medical researchers who engage in creative, cutting-edge research and translational research and to produce advanced medical practitioners who undertake ultra-modern medical treatments such as transplantation, regenerative medicine and gene therapy based on scientific foundations with close collaboration of basic and clinical departments.

Institute of Pathogenesis and Disease Prevention

While carrying out comprehensive analysis from the levels of genome to human society in order to understand the nature of human life, we aim to pioneer the field of comprehensive preventive medicine for disease prevention and control and health promotion based on our understanding of fundamental life phenomena and disease mechanisms.

Health Sciences

The First Stage (Master's Program)
The goal of this course is to bring up students to leading health care professionals with high sense of ethics and rich humanity, as well as advanced technical knowledge and skills, clinical problem solving capability based on evidence, and international perspective. Regarding human being as a holistic existence, we focus our education and research on the maintenance of healthy life, prevention and the treatment of disease and disability, and acquirement of medical safety. The results will establish the health sciences which dedicate national happiness and welfare.

 

The Second Stage (Doctor's Program)
The study of Health Sciences is to investigate the health, illness and life of patients from a holistic approach including psychological, physical and social perspectives. As such, it is believed that Health Sciences investigates the health of the individual and the group via interdisciplinary research, not only in studies that relate directly to medical treatment, but also through studies which are related to sociology and ethics, among others. In Shinshu University, Graduate School of Medicine, Health Sciences major, the basic philosophy of the PhD course (latter semesters) is to contribute to the health and welfare of people by application of the research results to society and supporting the health of the people by promotion and prevention of the illness through an interdisciplinary education and research in Health Sciences.
