The Faculty of Education is located in the rich natural environment of Shinshu Prefecture. Supported by the local community's character and climate of respect for education, the faculty aims to nurture educators of the future, rich in human qualities, combining specialist knowledge with basic competence acquired from practical experience. By working together with the school attached to the university, educational advisors, various other schools, the community and families, we aim to provide an education structurally based on practical knowledge with "clinical knowledge" as the nucleus. |

Objectives
We build on traditional training and real performance, with "clinical knowledge" as the nucleus to carry out the following goals in education research.
1.To train outstanding accomplished and creative educators, with highly specialized knowledge and educational skills learned from practical experience.
2.To conduct education research in order to develop new curricula and educational materials, and to be inventive in forming new teaching methods, making full use of the school attached to the university.
3.To work together with the education board and different schools in the community, to conduct specialized education for non-attending students or those with learning difficulties.
4.To reply to the needs in the community by building a research structure to enrich Learning-for-life, Re-learning, Environmental education and open education etc.
Message from Dean, Faculty of Education
The Faculty of Education at Shinshu University is founded on the tradition of "The Education Prefecture, Shinshu." In order to send accomplished teachers into the education world our training is based on the philosophy of "Clinical Education." As well as the fulfilling School Teacher Training program and Special School Teaching Training program, we now offer two new courses; Sport-for-Life Education training and Educational Counseling, providing students with a variety of job options both in and out of schools. The faculty is proud of the distinctive characteristics of its teacher training; training teachers who strike a balance between the ability to provide students with rich human qualities, as well as being able to extend students' academic abilities. Starting soon after entrance, in order to be able to conduct high-caliber classes, students are exposed to an abundance of various lectures, as well as being given the opportunity to experience first-hand both practical and clinical education.
Through the four year course of study in the Faculty of Education, students come into contact with graduates from our departments who have achieved outstanding results in education, the arts and physical education theory. Students enjoy to the full the natural environment of Shinshu, and lead a full and satisfying student life, following the spirit of "Work well, Live well." We eagerly look forward to the arrival in our faculty of those students who have the strong desire to be educators of the future.
