Vision for Internationalization
The university is advancing intellectual/personal exchanges between Japan and foreign countries for education and research development on a global scale.
Shinshu University is a place where a variety of cultures/ideas intersect. It endeavors to cultivate talented individuals with superior international consciousness and the ability to understand, respect, and live harmoniously with those from foreign cultures.
The university is not only opening its door to the world by organizing mutual exchanges between students and researchers/teachers from around the world but it is also involved in a variety of efforts, including the implementation of collaborative research, international support, and participation in or organization of international conferences.
Plan for Advancing Internationalization
Shinshu University aims to not only globalize its campus but also "internationalize the university in a truly meaningful way" to build an internationally-competitive educational and research hub in the ever-changing global society. Therefore, the university fosters talented individuals who can actively participate in the international community through educational curriculum and content that is applicable at a world-class level. In addition, with the world's leading researches concentrated at the core, the university promotes unique research activities that meet global standards. Considering the increase in the acceptance of exchange students as well as the increase in their job opportunities in Japanese society, according to each department's requirement, the university enhances graduate school acceptance that guarantees the quality of the applicants while keeping our university uniquity.
On the basis of the outlook of the future society, the university has also implemented the "Shinshu University Global Talent Fostering Plan" to foster individuals who can actively participate globally. These talented graduates are nurtured through a three-step method: HOP (creating motivation for expanding one's horizon to include global society), STEP (acquiring the skills/knowledge to foster talent from a global perspective), and JUMP (taking such skills/knowledge and "jumping" into global society).
